Training, Support, and Benefits
Latham takes juniors’ development very seriously. In order to contribute to each individual’s career growth, we have recently developed a series of local Department Academies: each trainee/junior associate receives guidance from senior associates and partners to learn the major milestones of each practice.
We have also developed an Intranet platform to provide new joiners and junior lawyers with presentations, useful links, and helpful materials.
Complementing periodic local trainings on current law trends, the firm has a global learning and development program, which offers a variety of courses and trainings with Latham lawyers from offices around the globe.
The firm also supports trainees with BAR exam preparation, offering extended paid study leave periods and covering the enrollment costs for preparation courses and for the exam.
Tutoring & Mentoring
New hires interns and trainees are offered comprehensive tutoring and mentoring opportunities as we believe in fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for the personal and professional growth. Our mentoring program pairs experienced lawyers with new hire trainees, providing them with invaluable guidance and advice as they navigate their roles and acclimate to the workplace culture. A similar opportunity is offered to our interns as well, who can count on the support of a tutor for the entire duration of the internship.
We are dedicated to giving back to our community and promoting equal access to justice: as a result, we are one of the largest providers of pro bono legal services in the world. Participating in pro bono activities is integral to the Milan working life and we have a diverse and robust pro bono program accessible to everyone looking to get involved.

To further enhance our green initiatives, we have recently established a dedicated committee comprising passionate trainees, associates, and staff members, who work together in order to suggest sustainable practices to be implemented throughout our workplace. Some successful examples include: green energy providers, recycling and waste reduction, plastic-free supplies in our kitchens, coffee recycling pods, auto-irrigation system to reduce water waste, and paper waste reduction.
