Vacation Scheme

Our vacation schemes are the perfect way for you to get your foot in the door at Latham. These schemes are a great opportunity to get involved with real, client-facing work alongside your peers, giving you a taste of life as a trainee lawyer.

Our one-week winter vacation scheme will focus your experience on one practice area, while our two-week spring and summer vacation schemes will span two designated practice areas. You’ll be exposed to many opportunities to work closely with our experienced lawyers , and you will be best-placed to start thinking about what kind of lawyer you want to be.

When you finish your vacation scheme, you’ll have the opportunity to interview for a training contract.

Training Contract

The training contract you choose will help shape your career as a lawyer.

You’ll rotate across four seats ― two of which will be corporate and finance ― over a two-year period. Our Graduate Recruitment and Development team will ensure you’re exposed to areas and projects that interest you.

A trainee mentor, an associate mentor, and a supervisor will support you along the way.

Your fast-paced and international assignments will have a real impact in the market. You’ll also have the opportunity to go on secondment, depending on business demand. In the past, we have placed trainees on secondment  to our Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York, Madrid, Brussels, and Paris offices.

We actively invest in all our trainees ― as lawyers and individuals. Whichever path you choose, we  will equip you with all the resources to move your career forward. Because when you’re part of a firm that’s on your side, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.

Your starting salary will be £46,000, going up to £50,000 in your second year.

Applications for our direct training contract application process will open on 2 December 2019. You should be in the penultimate years of your law degree, or final year of a non-law degree, to apply. We would expect all candidates to have achieved AAB at A-level (or equivalent) and a 2.1 in their undergraduate degree where applicable.

Open Days

Our open days are the perfect way to gain insight into our culture and the way we work.

You’ll have the opportunity to meet our partners, associates, and trainees, as well as our Graduate Recruitment team. You’ll also take part in panels, speed networking, and negotiation activities, and you’ll meet your fellow trainees in a more informal, social setting.

We’ll cover travelling costs for open day attendees coming from outside London.
