Hong Kong Summer Vacation Scheme

Latham’s Hong Kong office offers two three-week vacation schemes in the summer — one in June and a second in July, for candidates who are considering applying for a training contract with the firm. The vacation schemes introduce you to the firm’s work and culture by providing plenty of opportunities to contribute to current matters and to meet with the people who work at Latham.

During the vacation scheme, candidates will be asked to produce written work and participate in a group exercise. Members of the office will deliver presentations on various topics to immerse you in the firm and gain a thorough appreciation of how Latham works. While you are with the firm, you will enjoy plenty of social events to experience the relaxed and open side of Latham. You will also have the opportunity to speak informally with lawyers and trainees to answer your questions.

Hong Kong Training Contract

As a trainee, Latham will ensure that you receive all the guidance you need. The firm’s partners, counsel, and associates are committed to helping you develop and reach your full potential. Always available to answer any questions you have, Latham’s lawyers ensure that you have the best mentorship experience possible.

You will have the opportunity to work in the Corporate, Finance, and Litigation departments, which allows you to develop key skills and experience in core areas and explore your own area of interest while developing an understanding of different areas of the law.

You may also be offered the opportunity to spend up to six months in an overseas office in your second year. Before commencing your training contract, the firm will ask you to nominate your department and practice area preferences for your rotations. While Latham cannot offer any guarantees, the firm will endeavor to build your preferences into your program to help you plan your career.
