Our Pathways Program is designed to bring fresh perspectives from people with varying life experiences to our firm. It aims to deepen our culture and relieve some of the financial pressure for participants as they begin to practice. Our people are our greatest asset, and we are seeking the best and brightest students from all backgrounds to join us.
1L Pathways Scholars Program
The 10-week program includes:
- In-depth legal training, mentoring, and real-world experience at one of Latham’s US offices for five weeks
- A secondment to the legal department of one of our clients for five weeks
- A weekly salary paid by Latham throughout the 10-week program
- An invitation to Latham’s Leadership Academy for students, a multi-day program focused on empowering students to take the next step in their legal career journey
2L Pathways Scholars Program
The 10-week program includes:
- In-depth legal training, mentoring, and real-world experience at one of Latham’s US offices or Latham’s London office.
- A weekly salary throughout the 10-week program
- Eligibility for a scholarship of up to US$50,000
- An opportunity to participate in our Client Mentorship Program
Criteria
Our Pathways Program is open to all first and second-year law students enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school, regardless of race, color, religion, citizenship, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, military service, disability, or any other characteristic or condition protected by applicable law.
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school with an anticipated graduation date of 2026 (for 2025 2L Pathways Scholars) or 2027 (for 2025 1L Pathways Scholars) at the time of application
- Participate in Latham’s full 10-week Summer Program, starting in May. Exceptions to this start date will only be made due to academic calendar conflicts
- Provide a personal statement of 500 to 1,000 words addressing how you will bring a fresh perspective to our firm.Your personal statement may include discussion of the following topics, or other factors that support the program’s goals:
- Life experiences that have shaped your perspective, values, and professional goals
- Your commitment to deepening our culture, as well as your experience in promoting the value of varied backgrounds, life experiences, and circumstances
- Obstacles or challenges (financial or otherwise) you have encountered in advancing your educational and/or career objectives
